Passion for eLearning

I’m Vanessa, the boss mom leading Anchored Training. I have worked in the corporate training space for more than 11 years.  For about 7 years I worked fulltime and freelanced on the side to supplement my income.  I even made the crazy decision to work fulltime, freelance and achieve my 2 year program masters – in one year!

Another year I worked fulltime, freelanced at a fulltime rate, had my oldest child and carried my youngest.  I tell you this not to give you a list of my background and credentials, but to give you a small glimpse of my life.  I love my family and I love working.  I enjoy being busy and I am passionate about eLearning, which makes this adventure that much more rewarding.

Learning and training sparked my interest from a very young age.  There is something about creating a program from scratch or reimagining a program that I love.  I also love the idea of learning about something new, whether it is your business process or a completely new industry.  Because of that, at Anchored Training, we do not pigeon hole ourselves into one industry. We are in the business of learning and we love to learn.

I officially brought Anchored Training into fruition in 2018. I had just become a mom for the second time and could no longer see myself being a mom, working fulltime, freelancing fulltime – and keeping some semblance of sanity or maintaining proper sleep habits. This launched me into a whole new world of CEO, President, Sales, Marketing, IT, Finance – the core necessities of a business and all things I knew nothing about.  Throughout my years of officially operating as the business, I have learned so much about these things but I also have been able to grow my team and bring in help along the way.  This includes experts in many industries from pharmaceutical and fashion, to aviation. I also have a team of experts in many learning and development areas including eLearning authoring, instructional design and documentation. We are proud to continue to grow and serve our clients with their best interests in the forefront of our minds.

I am thrilled to begin the journey of blogging and connecting with organizations, other freelancers and people interested in the business of learning.  Being someone behind a computer all day by yourself in a small office can seem isolating and sometimes difficult to share with others what your day to day is like because I feel like the Chandler Bing of my family and friends… “What is it that you do? Human Resources? PowerPoint?”

I am hoping to connect with others who share my passion of learning and design.  While also answering the “What do you do,” question and teach others about instructional design, eLearning, freelancing, balancing work/life, starting a business, and being a mom.

Welcome and I am glad you are joining the Anchored family!
